Value Meditation

Meditation helps a spiritual seeker in two ways :

(1) to prepare the mind for Self-knowledge and

(2) to assimilate the Self-knowledge gained through the study of scriptures, with the guidance of a Guru. There are different types of meditation. One type of meditation is called value-meditation. In this, one dwells upon the adverse consequences of the unhealthy tendencies of the mind. Then the meditator visualizes himself or herself as free from such tendencies. This meditation helps in weeding out the unhealthy tendencies of the mind, which is a prerequisite for Self-knowledge.
 

These meditations can be followed by any person in general to enjoy a healthy, balanced and cheerful mind which is required for success in any field.

I have been conducting guided meditation sessions for the benefit of my Vedantic students. Some of the value meditation sessions have been recorded and transcribed by one of my students. A portion is presented here for the benefit of seekers.
