A father was walking in an open field with his two sons - the younger one, Sonu, tucked in his arms and the older one, Babu walking beside him, holding his hand. The field was green; the air was fresh, the sky clear and the landscape simply breathtaking. As they were enjoying the scene, Babu spotted a colourful kite, flying in the sky. It only added to the beauty of the scene. With great excitement, he started clapping his hands and seeing his brother, Sonu also joined in imitating his brother by clapping hard and loud. Suddenly, Babu lost balance and fell with a thud. Since all his attention was on the kite above, he has lost track of where he was walking. But, Sonu too, was watching the kite and clapping. Why then did he not fall? Because he was safe in his father's arms where as Babu had let go of the father's hand while clapping. In life too, if we hold on to the Lord for support, we can be sure of one thing we won't slip and hurt ourselves. -Adapted from Sri. Ramakrishna's parables.
